Amsterdam is a Dutch city with canals, interesting buildings, and a busy nightlife. Visitors appreciate its beauty and friendly people, especially when they go beyond the busy city center. Areas like Jordaan are noted for having fewer tourists. Cycling in this city is enjoyable, with many parks to visit, like Vondelpark. The food options are varied, with many cafes and bars. However, the cost of living is high, and if you plan to stay in a hostel, expect to pay 40-60 euros a night. There are some downsides—public areas can be hectic with bikes moving quickly, and there are complaints about trash in the streets. It can also be very crowded with tourists, especially during busy times. For a more local experience, think about visiting during the week and exploring the outer districts where you can see the real Amsterdam. Just be ready for some language differences and occasional noise!

I have stayed here 2 weeks, and this city definitely has ups and downs. On the bright side, the city is absolutely beautiful, especially in the summer when all the cultural activities and music festivals come alive. Biking everywhere makes getting around a breeze and it gives you a nice way to see the sights. However, housing can be a real struggle, and the cost of living is high. If you want a... decent place, be ready to pay for it. One person mentioned living in the East for over two years and enjoying it, despite the apartment sizes and prices. But others have found the center quite challenging. If you live in the center, you might find it very noisy. At least for me, the place that I stayed, I felt like neighbors don't care about being quiet at all. But I heard this similar experience from fellow nomads, too. Another downside is that you might feel like it's a huge tourist trap, filled with crowds, especially in peak seasons, and takes away from the local vibe. Amsterdam has a lot to offer, but it's important to think about the costs and the noisy, busy areas before deciding to live there.
