Bangkok is a busy city that can be an adventure for those who enjoy its special energy. It has tall buildings and lively streets, offering everything from shopping malls to street food. However, be ready for very hot weather, high humidity, and heavy traffic that can make a short trip take much longer. Living in Bangkok can be affordable, but there is a clear difference between the rich and the poor. Good apartments are cheap compared to cities in the West, but don't expect the same standards you find in Western countries. The public transport system works well, especially the BTS Skytrain, but try to avoid the streets during busy times. Visit areas like Sukhumvit and Silom for a mix of local culture and modern facilities. Just be careful about the pollution and busy roads. Many foreigners enjoy the city's nightlife and the variety of international food, making it a popular place for digital workers. Whether you like it or find it too much, Bangkok has many experiences waiting for... you to explore.

I've been in Bangkok for about four months, and it's definitely a place worth visiting. There's a lot to love about the city. The people are friendly, the food is amazing, and you can easily find fast internet. Plus, everything is pretty cheap, which is great for tourists. The mix of old and new in the city is really fascinating, and there’s always something fun to do. However, I think living... here long-term is a different story. The air pollution is really bad, and the smell can be quite unpleasant because of things like the streets and food stalls. It's hard to enjoy being outside for long without feeling sick. I mean, I used to walk a lot for exercise, but now, it’s hard to do that because it's just so hot and humid most of the year. The temperature can feel like 37°C to 45°C during the day, which is just not comfortable for doing outdoor activities. Also, if you're thinking of making Bangkok your home, be aware that it’s tough to stay long-term. You often have to make border runs every month or two, and getting a residence permit or citizenship is complicated and expensive, with some options costing a lot of money. Overall, Bangkok is an incredible place to visit and explore, but it’s probably not the best choice for living long-term. If you decide to stay for a month or two, your body will need some time to adjust, but you’ll definitely enjoy the experience!
I spent a few weeks living in Bangkok working remotely, and overall, it was a great experience. I felt safe most of the time. Bangkok is a busy city, so pickpocketing can happen in crowded places, but as long as you’re aware of your surroundings, you’ll be fine. The food here was great. Street food is everywhere, delicious, and cheap. You can also find international cuisine and higher-end... restaurants if that’s your style. Internet is fast and reliable, both in apartments and coworking spaces. Some coffee shops also have good Wi-Fi, though it’s not always consistent. Bangkok has plenty of coworking spaces to choose from, especially in areas like Sukhumvit or Silom. They’re well-equipped and cater to digital nomads, with great networking opportunities. There’s a lot to do in your free time. You can explore temples, take cooking classes, or join fitness groups. Bangkok also has a good nightlife scene and plenty of shopping malls and parks. The local culture is fascinating. People are friendly and respectful, though not everyone speaks English fluently. It’s worth learning some basic Thai phrases. Thailand can be tricky with taxes. If you stay long-term, look into visa options and tax requirements. Short-term stays are easier to manage. Meeting fellow nomads is easy, especially at coworking spaces or expat events. Locals are welcoming too, but it might take some effort to make close connections. Overall, Bangkok is an exciting and vibrant city with so much to offer. The only downside is the traffic—it can be a nightmare. And also the air is quite polluted. If you’re okay with that and like city life, it’s a fantastic choice!
