Cartagena is a colorful place on Colombia’s coast. Visitors enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the busy nightlife with many bars and rooftop locations. There are many nice places to eat, like Celele and Alquimico, making food both enjoyable and affordable. However, some travelers point out a few issues. There are worries about safety in some areas, especially at night, so it is best to stay in popular neighborhoods like Centro, Boca Grande, or Castillo Grande. Also, while the city is nice, there is a noticeable presence of sex tourism, which can be uncomfortable for some. The Walled City is lovely but can be crowded and expensive. Many people say that the local beaches are not as good, often having many vendors. If you want a more local experience, think about staying away from tourist spots and exploring residential neighborhoods where locals are friendly. Overall, Cartagena has much to offer, but being careful and planning ahead can help you enjoy your visit more!
