Da Nang, with its beaches and mountains, is a city that offers a lot. For budget travelers and digital nomads, it is affordable with tasty street food available for just one or two dollars. If you like a quieter place than the busy streets of Bangkok or the crowded scenes of Bali, Da Nang might be a good choice for you. However, it is important to keep your expectations in check. Many visitors find that while there are many things to do, the city can become a bit dull after some time. Public transport options are limited, and unpredictable traffic can make getting around a challenge. Renting a scooter is common – but be careful, as driving can be chaotic! Culturally, you might face some difficulties. While the locals can be kind, language differences may make communication harder. Eating out can vary; there are good options, but you should watch out for places with high prices or fake reviews. Nature lovers and beach fans will enjoy Da Nang’s landscape, and the growing coworking... spaces are good for those needing a place to work. Overall, it is a nice spot for short stays or working vacations, but it may not be the best place for those looking for active nightlife or large social networks. If you find the right area, you might uncover a hidden treasure in this changing city!

Been in Da Nang for almost a month now, and I’ve got mixed feelings. Some great stuff, but also some annoyances. The good: Super cheap: rent, food, transport, all very affordable. Lots of cool places to explore, especially if you ride a motorbike. Decent for digital nomads: plenty of coffee shops, small but nice expat scene. Has a fun, lively vibe, even with all the construction. The... not-so-good: Feels like you’re getting ripped off sometimes: taxis, restaurants, fake reviews everywhere. Walking around is a pain: crazy traffic, construction everywhere, sidewalks barely exist. Still developing: constant noise, random power cuts, broken ATMs, kind of a mess in some area
Da nang is a nice place, but I would still give only 3 stars out of 5. Whether you like it depends on your taste. Vietnam is super cheap, with local food for a dollar and affordable restaurants. But after a month, I got tired of the food compared to Thai food (Just my opinion). Traffic is unpredictable, and I saw a few accidents. It's more walkable than Bali but less than Bangkok. Renting a... scooter costs around $45 a month and is worth it to explore, but be careful of the wild driving. Hoi An is a nice day trip from Da nang as well. Some locals can seem aggressive or inconsiderate, and you might feel like you have to be on guard against price gouging or misleading ads. Ants can be an issue, so avoid low floors when booking a place. Overall, it's good for young backpackers on a budget, but if you want a very friendly environment, consider other places.
