Helsinki is a busy city that combines a rich culture with interesting buildings and friendly people. Visitors like its walkable streets and good public transportation, which makes it easy to see the city and take a ferry to nearby islands. The café scene is active, with many comfortable places to relax or work—and for vegans, there are many options! One thing to keep in mind is that the cost of living can be high, especially for eating out or having a drink. While the city might feel a bit quieter in the winter months, summer is a great time to walk around, enjoy the waterfront, or go to Linnanmäki amusement park if you have children. However, be ready for some very cold winters! English is spoken by many people, so communication should be easy, but you might find some language barriers outside the main areas. Overall, Helsinki is worth a visit, but plan your trip carefully to enjoy its unique experiences!

Having lived in Helsinki for the past two years there are not many things to complain. First of all, it is safe and stable environment. It’s okay to walk around the city at night (except some bad neighborhood. The opportunities for doing indoor hobbies are great. There are gyms, swimming pools, climbing centers, etc. around and they are relatively affordable. Meeting new people can sometimes be... hard as Finna are not usually the ones to strike a conversation with you first. There’s no small talk and people can seem cold at a distance. The biggest downside of living here is the dark winter. You will feel like a vampire living underground and it’s very easy to mess up your biological clock. Also it’s very common to haves slush for extended periods of time so you’d better have some proper boots. Secondly, the taxation of higher incomes is very high and you will be paying up to 30-50% income tax depending on your salary. All this while using the public health services is degrading and it’s very hard to get treated in the public health services unless you are almost dying of a heart attack. Overall, it’s a place with clean air and safe environment, but there are also a bunch of downsides.
Helsinki is very safe, but pricy and not many places to visit for tourists. But in general it is nice.
It is not so easy to become friends with Finns typically, but in Helsinki people are more open minded people and there are more English speaking jobs. I can confidently say it is the best city to live in Finland. But just keep in mind that the weather in winter here is bad though
