Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, is a small place ready to be discovered. It is a relaxed city surrounded by nature and culture, but it has some oddities. The atmosphere has changed a bit after COVID, and while it is a good place for short visits, staying for a long time can be a bit boring, especially for those traveling alone. Community life seems to have decreased—finding other travelers or locals to meet may take some effort. On the positive side, Kuching has nice co-working spaces like The Grounds and iCube, although they can be quite calm. The cost of living is fair, and you can find comfortable places to stay near the busy waterfront, which comes alive at night with its musical fountain and lively scene. Nature fans can visit nearby national parks and see orangutans, but be aware that some paths may be closed. In terms of weather, be ready for some rain, especially in the evenings. Renting a motorbike is a great option if you want to explore outside the city. So, whether you... are walking along the waterfront or relaxing in a local café, Kuching is a special mix of calmness and possibilities waiting for you!
