Lusaka is a city that has a lot of activity and some surprises if you look more closely. While the rent in the city may be higher than in Southeast Asia, neighborhoods like Kabulonga, Woodlands, and Ibex Hill offer good appeal. However, be careful: some cheaper rental places may not be very safe, so choose your location carefully! It is easier to get around with a car, but rideshare apps like Ulendo Taxi are a good choice, especially since they have female drivers—this is helpful for solo female travelers! When it comes to safety, it’s important to be cautious; try to avoid some areas where it may be more dangerous, especially if you appear to be a foreigner. Street vendors are found on the busy streets, selling everything from clothes to local crafts, though you may want to avoid haggling. Instead, visit weekend markets for authentic items. If you're looking for good coffee, places like Zam Bean and The Corner Café are nice to check out. Join local expat groups on Facebook for... useful tips! Lusaka has a unique feel that is ready for you to discover.
