Mérida is located in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It offers culture, safety, and low costs. It is a small city known for being family-friendly, with a strong police presence that helps people feel safe, which many locals and visitors like. If you enjoy history, you will appreciate the Mayan heritage and nearby ancient ruins. The local people are friendly and often speak English. Some may avoid using it because they worry about their accents. Mérida is seen as a calm place with many cafes and restaurants that serve Mayan food, but some visitors say there are not many activities or nightlife after dark. If you like cycling, the flat ground is great! The Gulf beaches and cenotes are also nearby for a fun day out. Just remember that it can get very hot in the summer. Rentals are cheap, which is good for remote work. However, some rental agreements can be difficult without someone local to help. Overall, if you want a slower pace, friendly people, and a safe place to live or visit, Mérida... might be a good choice for you!
