Phnom Penh has a relaxed feeling that is different from other busy capitals in Southeast Asia. The city tends to quiet down by 9 PM, so if you want nightlife, it may feel calm. There is a lot to see and a rich culture to explore—like good food and historical places—but you may need to look a bit to find the best spots. Staying here can be difficult if you have a small budget. Many cheap places to stay have slow Wi-Fi and lack some services, so be ready to adjust your budget for a better stay. The BKK1 and BKK3 areas are popular for their cafes and workspaces, making them decent places to work, although reliable internet can be a common issue. You should keep your belongings safe as pickpocketing can be a problem here. However, Phnom Penh is a good starting point to visit nearby places like Kampot, which is much quieter. If you are open to new experiences and keep an eye out for the right ones, this city has its appeal, especially for food fans and culture lovers!
