San Francisco is a city with nice views and a lot of history that has definitely changed over time. Many people who used to enjoy walking around the city and its culture feel that its appeal has decreased, mainly because of high costs and safety concerns. Although there is still a growing tech scene and attractive neighborhoods like Mission and Haight, there are also some problems. The cost of living is a big issue. Rent can be very high—around $3,500 for a one-bedroom in the center of the city. When you add costs for parking and utilities, it's clear why many people are feeling the strain. While the tech atmosphere is strong, some have noticed that the sense of community that used to be here is fading, with friends moving to cheaper places like Oakland. Public transport is available, but many people still choose to drive, even with warnings about break-ins. The issue of homelessness is also noticeable in different areas of the city, which can be surprising. If you are visiting,... see the famous sights, but be careful with your belongings and stay aware of your surroundings, especially at night. The beauty of San Francisco is still nice to see, but it’s important to plan well and enjoy your time while using the city as a base to explore nearby areas.
