Savannah is a nice city that combines southern friendliness with a busy college atmosphere, especially when students arrive each fall. Families and community are important here, making it a welcoming place, but if you come from the north, you might notice some typical southern hesitance before you are fully accepted. The city is known for its lovely parks and historic buildings, great for a relaxed walk. Food lovers will enjoy many tasty restaurants that serve southern dishes. Savannah also has a lively music scene where you can see local performers. While Tybee Island has nice beaches, be prepared – it can be a bit expensive and crowded in the summer. And remember to bring bug spray! The mosquitoes and sand gnats can be bothersome. Public transportation is available, but having a car is often useful. Just keep in mind the local customs and enjoy the unique aspects that make Savannah different!
