Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, has a mix of charm and character that may surprise you. The city is known for its friendly people and easy-to-walk streets, which are good for visiting cafes and restaurants. There is a nice atmosphere, especially in the busy main square where there is always something happening. If you enjoy nature, parks like Maksimir provide a quiet place to relax. However, like any city, Zagreb has both good and bad reviews. Some visitors notice a past “commie block” look in the outskirts, and the winter cold can be harsh. While it is cheaper than well-known places like Split or Dubrovnik, some people still find the prices a bit high for what is available. Getting around by tram is easy, but make sure to carry cash since many local bars and clubs do not take cards. If you are a vegan, there are new options available. Just remember, the cafe culture here is more about talking with friends than working. Whether you want a nice walk through the old town or a hike up... Sljeme, Zagreb has something for everyone!
